How to choose a dishwasher

1. Size

When choosing a dishwasher, consider how big your house is, as well as how big your family is, so you can buy a dishwasher that is enough for your family.  The majority of dishes are 24-inch built-in, under-the-counter models, but if you have a tiny kitchen and lack the space for a full-size model, you can also buy an 18-inch version. If you have a small family, you can also get a portable unit that you can attach to your sink faucet, and keep in your closet when not in use.

2. Noise

When choosing a dishwasher, you would want to buy one that is relatively quiet, so that you will not be bothered by the noise when it is in use. Dishwasher with motors mounted to the base-pan are the quietest. You can also check the decibel rating on the dishwasher to find a quieter one.

3. Energy Efficiency

If you’re keeping an eye on your utility bills and are concerned about the environment, opt for an environmentally-friendly dishwasher. Contemporary models use less energy and water, which lowers your utility bills while conserving valuable resources.

4. Basin and Racks

Lower-end models have plastic basins, which mid and high-priced units have stainless steel basins. Cheaper models have to be manually cleaned on a regular basis to prevent choking, but some dishwashers have self-cleaning filters, so that you will not have to send them for maintenance so often.
