Cersaie 2017: Ceramic Magic

Italy’s mastery of ceramics was witnessed at Cersaie 2017, which was held in Bologna from 25 to 29 September and organised in cooperation with BolognaFiere. As the leading commercial event of the global market, its wide range of initiatives was targeted at architects, interior designers, installers, the media and end consumers.

For decades, this Bologna fair has contributed to the prestige of ceramic materials and has inspired highly demanding architectural, design and interior design projects. As a result, it has risen to become the greatest showcase for state-of-the-art trends in ceramics, glazing, bathroom ware and furniture. Poetry, Memory, Comfort and Design were used as the theme and trend labels that the Italian association identified for submissions and project displays. They refer to the human needs of our time of well-being (poetry), nostalgia (memory), deceleration (comfort) and individualisation (design).

The exhibition was dominated by large formats, muted colors and reserved optics, which seemed pragmatic for the object area. Alongside the traditional sectors of ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings, Cersaie also hosted a large number of exhibitors of wood, marble and natural stone surface coverings and key components of the ceramic supply chain. With a total exhibition space of 156,000 square metres, Cersaie saw growth in all exhibiting sectors and hosted 111,000 in attendance.

One of the exhibitions’ highlights was a contemporary wallpaper, GLAMACOUSTIC, which allows for the improvement of environmental comfort, thanks to its high acoustic properties. GLAMACOUSTIC is a double-coated vinyl covering for walls and ceilings, and it is made of differentiated layers. Moreover, because of its high absorption capacity of outer layer arranged on the surface, it results in a reduction of both external noises as well as the dispersion of the noises emitted indoors.

Vinyl wall treatments are a true classic in the world of interior design and wallpaper options. It is ideal for covering smooth interior walls in standard conditions. Easy to hang and remove, it can be washed and cleaned easily and is also fire resistant. Moreover, it is light-resistant and extremely durable and robust, making it the ideal candidate for frequently used rooms. Its slight embossing gives depth, texture and brings out the patterns.

The next Cersaie will take place from 24-28 September 2018 in Bologna.
